UiTM graduate is ACCA Malaysia's best graduand, seventh in the world

The daughter of a night market trader, Siti Aisah Kamarulzaman, emerged as the best graduand of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Malaysia and seventh best ACCA graduand in the world, for the June 2013 examination.

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar said UiTM student Siti Aisah was the seventh best in the world out of 6,000 candidates who sat for the examination.

"The UiTM is very proud of the success achieved by Siti Aisah which proves that if we want something, nothing is impossible and anyone can do it," he said at a media conference, here Friday.

He said that Siti Aisah also inherited the success of her elder brother, Khalid who emerged as the best graduand in Malaysia in the same examination last year.

Siti Aisah, 21, a student from the Department of Professional Accounting Study, UiTM's Faculty of Accounting, emerged as the best out of 724 ACCA graduands in the country.

"I'm thankful for this achievement and I thank my parents and lecturers who had given me much support and inspiration throughout my studies. They are my strength and inspiration for this most meaningful success," said the fourth child out of nine siblings.

She said the experience of her father, Kamarulzaman Udin, 51, as a night market trader, and the advice from her mother, Saadah Rahmat, 52, a teacher, had inspired her a lot in working hard to achieve the best success in life.

In another development, Sahol Hamid said that effective next year, all UiTM professional courses would be offered at the Medan Mara, Kuala Lumpur to facilitate the students in attending classes without going through the traffic jams.

To Karpal Singh from Muslim Laywers

PRESS RELEASE

MUSLIM LAWYERS ASSOCIATION

DATE: NOV 9TH 2013

This press release is issued pursuant to comments made by few parties in particular that of the Malaysian Bar and YB Karpal Singh in relation to our earlier press release dated Nov 2nd 2013.

With due respect to Mr Christopher Leong the President of the Malaysian Bar, in relation to his press release on Nov 4th 2013, it is with regret I find that he got completely wrong as the the caution which was given by the Muslim Lawyers Association in our earlier press release.

There is nothing for anyone to fear for any party rendering their legal arguments in court. That is not the issue. The issue is on what legal basis can the Malaysian Bar declare partisan stand on an issue relating to the religious word 'Allah' without taking heed at the majority members of the Malaysian Bar.

If indeed the Malaysian Bar feels that the body is a secular body, then a secular body should not interfere in any religious matters.

On the same premise, I also find that YB Karpal Singh has also digress from the point raised in the Muslim Lawyers Association statement. Further, there is no need for a person of YB Karpal Singh standing to make such unwarranted remarks as quoted in the media.

Dato' Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar
President
Muslim Lawyers Association

Experience with AirAsia

Now, Everyone can fly...Airasia Tagline..yeah for me its partly correct. Before, Malaysians who would like to travel inside the country by using flight do not have many choices. We have only Malaysian Airlines (MAS) for domestic sector instead of Airasia, Firefly and Malindo (latest).
As a solely player in Malaysia aviation industry, MAS has its advantage to charge consumers at a premium price. There is no competition at all. Most of the people regard (especially policy makers) thought using a flight were likely using limosine instead of taxi or bus. Hence, the fares were very high and not affordable to lower or middle income group. Only 'selected ' people were able to fly with aircraft!

When Tony Fernandes takes over Airasia, then the flight industry in the country change dramatically. More people are able to fly due to the competitive prices offered by the airline company. Although the fares do not consistently cheap but still the proportion still lower than premium flights services. No free drinks or foods given when travelling by using low cost airlines. Luggage need to be calculated based on the weight as well as other services which the flight think it might reduce the operational cost. The concept 'pay only what you want'.

Since then, I am able to use flight frequently when going home. Sometimes, the fares are much lower that bus or train. Increasing number of low airline carriers to the market brings many options to consumers to choose. Thanks !

Turning Point

Turning point?
